Life via Instagram

It's a running joke with friends(one in particular namely Sage.. not that I'm naming names) that all I do on the coast is 'potter around'. Which I deeply contest is NOT TRUE!! I admit life on the coast is not as 'crazy busy' as city friends and I'd happily lose the competition on that front I'm much too busy taking photos. Unfortunately this post only serves to reaffirm my so-called pottering lifestyle. But I'm not complaining... life via Instagram is looking pretty sweet...

 

The garden is brimming with beautiful Autumn flowers, Camellia's being my favourite. Autumn/Winter flowers along with beautiful & mostly clear days make it easier to ease into the cooler seasons.

With the abundance of autumn flowers I've been getting into my favourite art, 'flower mashing'! I gave a p;d top a new lease of life by covering it with natural flower imprints. I found this wonderful idea in India Flint's book Eco Colour!

Escapes to Sydney are still essential(to counter balance the pottering). Last weekend I visited the new Koskela store located in Rosebury! Wow this is one inspiring place... not to mention the fabulous food by Kitchen By Mike who shares the open warehouse space.  If your loving the feel of the space The Design Files did a beautiful feature on them today. Can't wait for my next Sydney visit! 

Last but not least I have been dining true Central Coast style at Fisherman's Wharf, Woy Woy.  I have been capturing a collection of photos each time which deserve a separate post of their own. Owner's Sam and his family have made a regular of me with The Wharf's stunning location, fresh & tasty food and a great selection of drinks at Happy Hour! I wish I was there tonight!

Better get going if I want to catch another spectacular sunset to end my busy busy week..

Spring Cleaning Sale

We have just spruced up the Elkhorn studio so it's now tidy and shining as it will ever be! I felt like I needed to get the cleaning out of my system to welcome in the new! Nothing like a early spring clean and a bit of procrasting to help things get on their way. Hence we are having a mini sale

Blue Feather Cushions

Have you ever noticed the Kookaburra's soft blue flecked feathers? I am sure the blue has some bigger purpose... but for me, I think it's a sweet contrast to their otherwise loud boisterous manner. It's such a beautiful soft blue and looks so subtle and feathery(for want of a better word) against their darker toned feathers. It is their blue feathers that inspired me to create a washed mixed blue print on our Feather Cushion. Although I paired an off white paint with the blues instead of using the darker taupey browns to create a more coastal feel. The marbled washed print gave the cushion a different feel bringing movement & texture to the birds wing design. I think it's kinda dreamy...perfect for the bedroom

Dahlia Muslin Baby Wrap

On a little side project, we have been making a few baby wraps for new baby friends.  The only coloured muslin I could find was the standard baby pastels, and that's just not fun. I wanted something bright and cheerful, so I decided to hand dye it a bright turquoise. I have to thank Mother Elkhorn for undertaking the dying & sewing... well she nearly did it all but I lay claim to the screen printing! After making these, I thought they could double as beach blankets or scarves, if cut long ways? What do you think? I might make a few more and try them out at the Magnolia Square Markets next week!
Heading to Wollongong tomorrow to meet baby Aidan, so I will have to get a photo of him all wrapped up in it. Cute.
